Robert comes from a Hungarian musician gypsy family. He studied
at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest, where he received his diploma
for violin and music education. When Robert was 16, he joined his father
in the 100-piece Budapest Gypsy Orchestra, touring the world’s most
prestigious stages. He soon became the youngest lead violinist and soloist
of the orchestra. The versatile musician juggles many ambitious projects,
playing violin and accordion. He is the founding member of the internationally
acclaimed Balkan beats band Besh o drom. He plays with two other bands:
Romano Drom, a gypsy folk band and Little
Cow, a gypsy rock band. He
also participated in two great jazz collaborative projects with Scottish,
Bulgarian and Hungarian musicians – Magic Feet and Miraculous
Meetings.
Since 2006 he has been working with underprivileged young people in a primary
school in Budapest, encouraging them to make their own music; he also teaches
workshops abroad for young people and music teachers. Most recently, he
formed the extremely popular cabaret project Budapest
Bar, album published
by EMI, Hungary.
